Natural-language methods run from classical sentiment dictionaries through transformer embeddings to full LLM agents that read news and place trades. The signal side is well established (news tone, filing language, earnings-call transcripts); the agent side is new, fast-moving, and under-evaluated. Both sit here, alongside the retrieval and summarization work that supports research itself.
What to check when reading. The specific hazard of LLM papers is temporal leakage through the model: a model trained on data through 2024 “knows” what happened to a 2023 stock, so a backtest that prompts it about 2023 is contaminated. A credible paper controls for the training cutoff, fixes the model version, reports prompt and temperature, runs many seeds, and compares against a cheap text baseline. For sentiment-signal papers, the classic checks apply: point-in-time text timestamps, costs, and a horizon over which the signal is actually tradable.
We study the interaction between returns and order flow imbalances in the S&P 500 E-mini futures market using a structural VAR model identified through heteroskedasticity. The model is estimated at one-second frequency for each 15-minute interval, capturing both intraday variation and endogeneity du
The success of large-scale pre-training paradigm, exemplified by Large Language Models (LLMs), has inspired the development of Time Series Foundation Models (TSFMs). However, their application to financial candlestick (K-line) data remains limited, often underperforming non-pre-trained architectures
Large Language Models (LLMs) excel at understanding context and qualitative nuances but struggle with the rigorous and transparent reasoning required in high-stakes quantitative domains such as financial trading. We propose a model-first hybrid architecture for the options “wheel” strategy that comb
Crypto enthusiasts claim that buying and holding crypto assets yields high returns, often citing Bitcoin’s past performance to promote other tokens and fuel fear of missing out. However, understanding the real risk-return trade-off and what factors affect future crypto returns is crucial as crypto b
Conditional Value-at-Risk (CoVaR) quantifies systemic financial risk by measuring the loss quantile of one asset, conditional on another asset experiencing distress. We develop a Transformer-based methodology that integrates financial news articles directly with market data to improve CoVaR estimate
Option pricing in real markets faces fundamental challenges. The Black–Scholes–Merton (BSM) model assumes constant volatility and uses a linear generator $g(t,x,y,z)=-ry$, while lacking explicit behavioral factors, resulting in systematic departures from observed dynamics. This paper extends the B

Classical asset price forecasting methods primarily rely on numerical data, such as price time series, trading volumes, limit order book data, and technical analysis indicators. However, the news flow plays a significant role in price formation, making the development of multimodal approaches that c
We address finance-native collateral optimization under ISDA Credit Support Annexes (CSAs), where integer lots, Schedule A haircuts, RA/MTA gating, and issuer/currency/class caps create rugged, legally bounded search spaces. We introduce a certifiable hybrid pipeline purpose-built for this domain: (
Candidate-scoring decision models return a probability distribution over a presented set of answers. Public documentation of one such system, Jev, and of an open counterpart, JevAny, describes three training ingredients that determine what these probabilities estimate: soft targets from larger model
Forecasters often score the same units per date against one standardized realized outcome. We show that every standardized forecast splits exactly into a component aligned with this common target and a component uncorrelated with it. Three consequences follow: forecast-error correlation largely mirr
Financial institutions and regulators require systems that integrate heterogeneous data to assess risks from stock fluctuations to systemic vulnerabilities. Existing approaches often treat these tasks in isolation, failing to capture cross-scale dependencies. We propose Uni-FinLLM, a unified multimo
Although synthetic data is widely promoted as a remedy, its prevailing production paradigm – one optimizing for statistical smoothness – systematically removes the long-tail, cognitively grounded irregularities that characterize human text. Prolonged training on such statistically optimal but cognit
We propose a novel conditional diffusion model for portfolio optimization that learns the cross-sectional distribution of next-day stock returns conditioned on asset-specific factors. The model builds on the Diffusion Transformer with token-wise conditioning, linking each asset’s return to its own f
We propose an approach to construct text-based time-series indices in an optimal way–typically, indices that maximize the contemporaneous relation or the predictive performance with respect to a target variable, such as inflation. We illustrate our methodology with a corpus of news articles from the
Since the 2021 GameStop short squeeze, r/WallStreetBets (WSB) has been associated with episodes of extreme volatility, and its text is increasingly used to forecast volatility. A model using only large language model (LLM) embeddings of WSB posts attains an out-of-sample $R^2$ of 0.13 for log realiz
Formulaic alpha mining seeks to discover executable expressions that capture predictive market signals in a vast, noisy search space. Recent LLM-based approaches use prompting, iterative search, or seed-factor evolution, leaving direct factor construction through policy learning less explored. To ad

Automated factor mining now spans genetic programming, reinforcement learning, generative models, and large language model agents. Yet it remains unclear whether advances a
Large language models are moving from producing trading signals to writing the code that executes them. The failure mode of the second role is silent: generated code runs, a backtest plots, yet the risk logic that the trader described is not the logic being executed. Existing code benchmarks test fu
